The new UAV DACH – SORA Focus Group and TUM Institute of Flight System Dynamics (FSD) launched a SORA survey to find out the challenges and success story from operators that use drones in the specific category. Within a few weeks, over 120 operators responded and provided their data for the team. Enough to plan a workshop to discuss the results and to prepare a presentation for the EUROPEAN DRONE FORUM.

Organized by the new UAV DACH – SORA Focus Group and TUM Institute of Flight System Dynamics (FSD), the free SORA Advanced User workshop offers a platform for exchanging information, networking, and advocacy regarding the SORA process. Its goal is to help improve the efficiency, clarity, and relevancy of the SORA process going forward—passing along feedback from our members to EASA and the national aviation authorities of Germany, Austria, and Switzerland.

This first workshop will be focused primarily on the Users (ie SORA applicants), including the following topics:

  • Insights from Successful SORA Applicants
  • UAS Operators’ Questions/Challenges
  • Initial SORA Survey Results (UAV DACH & International)
  • Preparing feedback for the aviation authorities/rule-making bodies
  • Standardizing & automating tools / templates
  • Other challenging subjects (e.g. SAIL III+, Enhanced Containment, etc)

Results of this workshop will be used to drive discussions at the EUROPEAN DRONE FORUM on 7-8 Nov in Cologne. Insights will be shared directly with at least 25 representatives of EASA and EU Member States Aviation Authorities, that have been invited by EASA to the #EDF22.

All details to participate in the SORA advanced User Workshop are published by UAV DACH:
