The numerous international conflicts of our time have once again shown us that peace and freedom cannot be taken for granted. But as terrible as the Russian full-scale invasion of Ukraine and other crises around the world are, the increased focus on “national security” also represents an opportunity for the UAS industry. Uncrewed systems are the future here, too. Implementing systems for reconnaissance and surveillance, transport, and even rescue missions means a huge opportunity for OEM, payload manufacturers, and software developers to grow. But how can the whole drone economy benefit from dual-use and defense, and how can it generate growth? Which strategies and procedures must be implemented? And what does it all mean for public acceptance of UAS?

Nik Stepura (Skyeton) and Stephen O Sullivan (European Defence Agency) will discuss these and other interesting questions in a unique townhall debate at the EUROPEAN DRONE FORUM in Düsseldorf. The panel „Dual-Use & Defense: Enabling the civil UAS industry in Europe?” will be hosted by Franz Glatz, CEO of brigkAIR: startup incubator for three-dimensional mobility.
