„Shaping the future: Clearing obstacles to commercial operations in Europe”. This is the theme of the EUROPEAN DRONE FORUM 2025. And it’s the topic of the townhall debate at the very end of EDF25. In this discussion, we want to summarize some of the key results and learnings from the 2025 Edition of Europe’s leading UAS expert conference. And who could do it better than a representative from the industry and from a national authority? UAS
“The future of commercial UAS operations in Europe depends not only on technological innovation but, above all, on regulatory clarity, economic scalability, and social acceptance,” says Florian-Michael Adolf, Head of at the German UAS manufacturer CertificationWINGCOPTER. “Close cooperation between authorities, industry, and society is essential to unlocking the industry’s full potential.” drone
Basically, there is probably no deeper dissent with most regulators on the European and national levels. From Tallinn to Lisbon and from Brussels to Prague the competent Hashtag authorities are working on enabling rules and procedures. “The UAS sector is at the gates of huge scalation, but industry and authorities need to allow for that with technical proposals and an adequate regulatory framework that recognizes all the actors involved in operations”, says Roberto Gándara Ossel, Head of UAS Division at AESA – Agencia Estatal de Seguridad Aérea, the Spanish Aviation Safety and Security Agency.
Beforehand, this townhall debate seems that it might be more of a starting point for joint efforts than the ultimate clash of cultures. But let’s wait and see. And, after all, is the devil in the details.
Florian-Michael Adolf and Roberto Gandara will discuss how the current obstacles to commercial UAS operations can be cleared. The townhall debate „Shaping the future: Clearing obstacles to commercial UAS operations in Europe“ at the EUROPEAN DRONE FORUM in Düsseldorf will be hosted by Michael Wieland, Member of the Executive Board at UAV DACH – Association for Unmanned Aviation .
