Positive signal

More dialog, more joint initiatives, more mutual understanding: only in constructive cooperation can regulators and the drone industry pave the way for more professional UAS applications. This was the message coming out of the EUROPEAN DRONE FORUM in Cologne, as Achim Friedl, Chairman of the UAV DACH board, was able to state with satisfaction at the end of the two-day conference. A positive signal for all stakeholders in the drone economy.

“Here in Cologne, we have done a lot for mutual understanding between authorities and industry and have set an important course,” Achim Friedl summed up. “In particular, the direct cooperation between JEDA and EASA and the joint attempt to gain important insights with the help of a broader data base is a milestone for the drone economy. A development that will have positive implications for both the industry and national and European authorities.” The signs are thus pointing to intensified cooperation between regulators and the UAS industry. For two intensive days, the 165 participants had previously discussed the state and future of the drone economy at the EUROPEAN DRONE FORUM held at the Dorint Hotel at the Cologne Exhibition Center. Well over 100 observers from all over the world followed the events via live stream and participated intensively in the high-class conference via chat function.

With an interesting program of topics, top-class guests from national and international regulatory authorities, as well as a large number of UAS operators from the various sub-sectors of the drone industry, the EDF, organized by the UAV DACH industry association, impressively underlined its position as currently the most important conference for unmanned aviation in Europe. “What has been discussed and agreed over the past two days must now be brought to life in a committed, open as well as cooperative manner,” says Achim Friedl, setting the direction. “And I am already looking forward to seeing what balance we can draw on this at the next EUROPEAN DRONE FORUM.”
